About Gil

I (Gil) have been involved in magic since the age of 7. "I was your typical wide-eyed boy" who received his first children's magic kit for a birthday gift. From there I remember being the child in the front rows , watching the carnival and county fair magicians, and remembering wanting to be just like them, and performing. I still remember my first experience in buying a magic trick (a trick deck of cards), with my own money. It was at the county fair, the magician did several routines with this 'trick' deck of cards, and I was used for misdirection , as he asked if I was standing in a hole. I was very small for my age, and everyone looked at me. I felt so special to be pointed out and the center of attention at that moment. It was my first lesson in magic, because now I know why the magician wished the audience to all look at me at that point. It is a wondrous memory.

I bought that 'trick' deck of cards, with money my grandparents gave me for my birthday, just the week before. That following holiday season 'Santa' brought me a Blackstone magic kit. My second , and even better magic kit.

Back then it was all just for the fun of it. But as magicians such as David Copperfield, and Doug Henning started having yearly TV magic specials, I remembering wanting to be just like them. That is when I started looking more seriously at performing as a magician, and not just have an interest.

I was 15 at that time. By age 16, I was performing at holiday parties, birthday parties, special events, and seasonal summer shows, such as at children's camps, etc.

I have been performing ever since.

From a full scale stage show, to walk-around street magic, and everything in-between, I love performing at them all. The magic for me, now, is seeing the smiles, and looks of wonder and happiness, as I entertain.

I still go see magician's perform. And I am still that wide-eyed boy. I love magic that much. I took my 9 yr old nephew to see his first large scale illusion show this past year, in 2007, (other than mine), and I still laugh at his comment to his father (my brother), "Daddy I thought Uncle Gil did magic too, why is he having as much fun as me?"

I can't remember what my brother said in answering him, mostly cause I was thinking to myself..."cause I am just a great big kid who will always love magic"

That is what I bring to my magic. That wide-eyed child wonderment and enthusiasm.
